Does anybody think it would be worth the fee to submit this coin to PCGS?
What do you think it would grade?

Is that coin raw? If it is, DEFINITELY submit it to a reputable grading service. Either PCGS, NGC, or ANACS if you want cheaper and decent service. The $5 and $10 indian gold coins are heavily counterfeited. In fact, in many books I've read they say they've heard there are more counterfeit ones than real ones! So make sure if you DO buy them raw, buy them at a reptuable grading service. I bought mine in one of the biggest coin shops in las vegas, it was a $5 indian gold eagle, 1908, no mintmark, they graded it Au-55. I sent it off to ANACS, and to my surprise it came back a grade higher at AU-58. Please DO NOT buy these off eBay raw, or over the internet. It's too risky. You might want to send it to ANACS as it's much cheaper and I believe they're having a gold special, plus they just as good with PCGS and NGC with authenticy. These coins were so popular because of their unique incuse design (Instead of the details of the coin being raised they are actually recessed into the coin), like a backwards-relief coin. So they were heavily counterfeited.
Good luck, and becareful when buying these.
It's hard to tell on the grade. Would need a better picture. But I'm guessing AU-58 perhaps low UNC.

My first impression looking at that coin was that it is a 58, not a 53 or 55 because of the luster and not a 60 because of what looks like wear/use in the fields and indistinct hair lines above the ear but it is hard to see this one that well. On the reverse, if it was ms, the front feathers on the rear leg and the top of the head and the feathers at the top of the wing would have more detail and they seem to be a little worn so it is at best an au 58 and that is probably where I would start looking. But defining the split between 55 and 58 is kind of an eye appeal issue to me if all the technical things are pretty balanced. Maybe it's better, maybe not but without coin in hand, looks like a 58.
I think this was in a recent Ebay auction...stating it was "PCGS worthy" or some such....??? I seemed to remember the pictures and how poor they were...
