WOW! they are everywhere!! I have found massive amounts of double dies...almost every coin I find is a double die.
Sadly the doctor has just officially diagnosed me with doubled vision and none of them are authentic.....
seriously double vision sucks when trying to cherry pick!!
Oh well....what's a collector to do? lol Sighs with smiles

I'll assume you mean to say "Doubled Dies".
In actuality there probably are quite a number of doubled dies in those proof sets - and if someone who really knew the coins and really knew the market bought them at those lofty prices, there's at least some chance they could come out ahead, even if not a single coin was a DCAM. There are a number of decent, valuable doubled dies from that date range on all the different series...but at those prices I'm not a player - at all.

but I agree the prices of the MN hoard are a little to spendy for the risk of junk coins.

I'm sorry to hear of your condition. Especially in this hobby. But, if you couldn't laugh, you would surely be in a sorry state.
After all, we are probably all afflicted with some sort of malady. We're all in this together, and here we are !!

<< <i>If theres any 60-64 sets in there, I know there are quite a few varieties of proof dimes with doubled dies, so it is a real possibility. >>
Between 1960 and 1964 there are over 175 different known doubled dies for cents, all of which have a value of at least $15-$25 with many of them going much higher even in typical PR65-PR66 grades. Although I wouldn't be willing to pay an exhorbinant premium for unopened sets, there is definitely the possibility that the cents alone could - COULD - end up being worth the batch price...but I would have to doubt it. Out of every roll of 1962 or 1964 proof cents I go through (the two dates with the best chance of finding something of value) I typically don't run across any more than ten to fifteen doubled dies per roll, unless you count the really minor stuff, in which case you could increase that number to half of the roll for each. Still a pretty good haul, but not enough to bet on.
