I know what your thinking, anyone with that kind of dough would never sell a coin like that in a soft market....but remember there are three things that make priceless treasures(Van Gogh's, vintage Ferrari's, etc.) come to the auction block.

1) Death
2) Divorce
3) Taxes

Hard to say. Personally I'm surprised it's the highest-priced coin out there, given that there's a theoretical big risk in that future legal challenges could cause its "legally unique" status overruled in court. Granted that the ex-Farouk piece probably had the strongest legal case, but that's not to say other credible legal challenges couldn't be mounted. I could see that coin dropping in value by a factor of five to ten if the courts ruled that all '33 Saints were legal to own.

If it did come up, it wouldn't sell at a loss over the previous price no matter how soft the market or how desperate the seller was. There would always be at least one person with pockets deep enough for it.
