    It just struck me about 3 years ago that this was a small and quality field that I though had historical and collector interest. I am also a ex-submariner and these were the opponents.image

    I'm very imressed, Dan!! Really great and very interesting collection! My grandfather was a Navy Officer in Russia and I have one of his silver insignias and also small collection of shipbadges and afew dive badges from Russia. In my "favorites" for along time was a link to great Russian Website of Russian Naval medals, awards, insignias, badges and etc. For some strange reason it doesn't work right now. But ,anyway, here the link and may it will work again later:

    BTW, did you collect also coins with submarines? image In my shipcoins collection I have a few of them: from Russia, from Cuba and may be a few more .

    Great sites, but I have to keep my Russian typewriter available to translate. I have a couple of Challange Coins with Subs on them, but they are only related to my service.

    You should post pictures of your Grandfathers medals, I would like to see themimage

    goldrush, that link leads to labour Medal, "Veteran of Labour" image something like that.

    Theboz, hope I will post once the award I have--unfortunatelly the only one we still have in our family, don't know, there gone others.image

    Meanwhile, here is the link to exactly the same award, that is " For excellent service in Navy" or something like that, couldn't tell the exact translation right now. (Silver version)
