Why don't you challenge Dr. Duckor to a "Showdown" if you think you have the finest set ? Have the people vote

100% complete in gem vs 66% complete a grade higher? Tough choice....

    Congrats, double thumbs up!!!!

A 20-S in 66! Wow! Where did you get that?

And a gem 1933. Does it have a pedigree?

How long did it take you to build this set?

Gem Ten Indians are some of the most beautiful coins ever.

    Seth,

I bought the 20-s from the Stacks sale in January for $240K. I started my three registry sets in January at the FUN sale where I bought most of my $5 Indians. I picked up about 6 coins from the Stacks sale of the Michaels $10 Indian collection (most of the coins were really not high quality for the assigned grade). The rest I bought from various sources since the beginning of the year. I upgraded whenever the opportunity arose. I started my Saint set a few months ago much to the chagrin of Saintguru who has know me for a while.

I recently acquired the 1933 from Heritage and it was in a long time collection. I have NOT traced its pedigree as yet but it could be the Winner-Delp coin but most likely the Bareford coin.

I could never challenge Dr. Duckor as he exemplifies the true collector and has been an advocate of set building. His taste and expertise in coins dwarfs my limited knowledge. He has been doing this for 25 years + and I have been building my sets since January. I was just lucky the coins even came up for sale and I grabbed them selectively. I would, however, love to have his 1920-s in MS67. Hey, I would even just enjoy the opportunity of seeing it someday!

    JPK...there are no 20-S' in MS67. What's my cha-GRIN?image

I'm very happy with what I have. You just did it faster. Maybe if you're nice (and part with beaucoups dollares)I'll sell you my 1909 ms66.image

What's this refer to?...you must be missing set #3 which is modestly higher in GPA. You're looking at his SECOND set.image

Well hello Saintguru! I would have an interest in that 1909 Saint in MS66! Are Boukoudollars akin to pesos or perhaps dinar? I can give you boukoudollars, as many as you want!

JB, of course there is a 20-s in MS67. Just one that beats my MS66. We are talking $10 Indians of course!

And I'll even bet you (the grading wizz) vote for Dr. Duckors set.

Don't know - it's closed so that's a tough call to make off a Registry. To some people, completeness is everything. They'll go for the complete set no matter how the incomplete set looks.

No disrespect intended - I'm sure Dr Duckor's coins are amazing.

Thanks. I really did enjoy building this set and was only fortunate that the coins came up when they did otherwise I could never have done it in 8 months like I did! Maybe I set a record!
