Today at a coin show I bought a stamp album dates 1937. One of the stamps in it was this one. Any idea how old it is? Can I sell it and retire? image

  • The stamp looks to be Sc#65 worth around $2.50-3.00. It was issued 1861. If the stamp had been pink, or if its on hard white paper, or if there is a grill on the back, then you could be looking at several hundred to over $1k used. There were several issues that used this design.

  • You're welcome. Just to be safe, you may want to show it to a stamp dealer in person; I'd hate to be responsible for telling you that your stamp is worth a couple of bucks and you have a $1200 issue.

I don't think it is a $1200 stamp. It isn't pink and doesn't have a grill on back. But I'll show it to someone at the next show I attend.
