Were these dipped prior to slabbing?

I'm relatively new to all this and have been following the various dialogs about cleaning/dipping and NT vs. AT. Please help me out a little here. Do you think either or both of these halves were dipped prior to slabbing, or is this about how natural toning on coins this old should look?

In case you are wondering, I bought the Bust Half several years ago because I liked the way it looked -- paid about twenty-five bucks for it as I recall. It's now in a PCGS AU53 slab with Large Date, Lg Let on the label (not sure what that signifies, if anything.) The Seated Half was a gift. It's in a PCGS MS63 slab.

Thanks,

Yes, these coins have been dipped at some point.

How long as dip been around? For example, Jeweluster. Has it been on the market since the 60's? How about the 50's? Where there other products collectors/dealers used to 'dip' and/or clean coins?

I know that Jeweluster is the dip of choice today and was in the 90's.

What was the choice in the 80's?
The 70's? The 60's and earlier?

    I've always wondered.
