The Kessler book titled "The Fugio Cents", I believe.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • The Kessler book is still the standard reference but I believe there is another one in the works. Another good reference is a series of articles that was published in Pennywise about a decade ago. It covered all of the known varieties and die stages with information on muling between dies and something of an emission sequence. Unfortunately it is missing a couple of recently discovered varieties and it does not include plates so you would still need the Kessler book as well. The Penny-wise articles would be a little hard to acquire at th moment as it was only published in Penny-wise. You would need to find an EACer who has one of the Lusk CD's that have all of the back issues. (I unfortunately don't have a one.) In a coupe years that will become easier because in the near future a CD of all of the back issues is supposed to become a bi-annual perk of membership in EAC (Every two years members will receive a new updated CD of all of the back issues, searchable in PDF format. 12,200+ pages
