Need some info help on a rare Phil Rizzuto item

Does anyone know the value of these photos or what year they are.
I did some research and found out that Rizzuto played for the KC Blues in 1939. There is a total of six pictures with Rizzuto on top.
We've checked the Beckett annual book and found nothing. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ben
I checked the 04 Standard Catalog of BB - minor league issues and an older one and could not find anything. Are the backs blank backed? Just curious. The stock looks thin. Wish I could be of more help.

  • Mike,
Yes the backs are blank and the paper stock is very thin. A friend of mine brought them over and said his grandma (a KC resident) gave them to him. He has had them in a plastic baggy in his drawer for over 10 years. I hooked him up with a toploader. Here is a list of the other players. Thanks for checking!

    Bill Meyer- Coach
    John Riddle- former cardinal player
    Buzz Boyle
    Don Hendrickson- pitcher
Dephilips- can't find a first name

All of them in KC Blues uni's. Yankees farm team.

Do you have a personal guesstimate on value lol?

I'm thinking that is some kind of 'local' issue - maybe an insert from the local newspaper or something.
Value: clueless? About a million? image

What is the approx. size of the card? Also, is that a staple at the top? Is the crease across the middle a crease or a fold like it could have been a newspaper supplement and folded as intended.

  • My friend took the card home. Probably 2 1/2 x 5in.
Yes that is a fold across the middle and the staple appears to be the original and it holds the other players pictures together as well. Must be something from a newspaper. I have a feeling these weren't stapled together by someone. Thanks

May sound goofy, but you should attempt to contact Rizzuto...he may be your best resource. I've met him a few times, and my take is he would be very open and pleased to review this with you. Regards.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
