Count me in. This could be a good excuse for me to see my in-laws and neices in Highland, IN.

  • If we can get enough interest we might be able to set up at a hall/banquet area etc.

I am going to display at the Cal. Stamp and Coin show in late October but am interested in setting up a coin show in Hammond, Hesseville, Highland, etc.

If we can get 7-10 people who want to run tables we can get a hall.

Let me know if you would want to do this.

    Will post more info later.

    Thanks,

  • Well Here Is The 411 on the show I am planning on setting up....

Will Be Titled NW Indiana Coin Show. Will be advertised in Coin World as well as locally (in every possible place I can find).... Including at least 500 flyers being placed in NW Indiana (especally near the show site). Ad will also be placed in the Hammond Times.

The details of the show (tentitive)
    -------------------------------------------
We would rent a hall (or similer area) that had accomadating size.

Admission Fee's Wold Be $1.00 and would be waved for all dealers and swappers.

    Table's Avalibable....

Swapping Table.... An area set up for 3-4 people per 6 foot table to set up an area for other collectors to come up with for swapping and selling. Spots would run around $8-10 for one of these.

Dealers Table.... A approx. 6 foot table for selling, trading, buying and anything else you would want to do with it. Would run in the $25 range. Dealers would be allowed in the area at least an hour in advance of swappers and collectors for set-up purposes.

We would allow the b/s/t of all numismatics products, stamps, and other collectables. We are going to mainly keep it to a coin show though.

We don't have an exact location yet but it will most likely be in Highland or the surrounding area.

I would need interest from 10 swappers and 10 dealers to rent a hall. If you are interested please let me know either via P.M or E-mail at greatcoinshop@yahoo.com so we can make a NW Indiana coin show a reality.

Feel free to post here with questions or comments or interest in table space.

    Thanks,

    -Greg U

A NW Indiana coin show could be doable, but there is a hitch - three out of the four weekends in a month are commerical shows in the Chicagoland area (Lemont, Countryside, & Itasca (AKA NOISE)). If the show were to be a monthly show, for an example, there is the fourth weekend (or Sunday). Also, Indiana has sales tax on coins, but enforcement by the state is pretty laxed in most places. That would scare Illinois dealers from setting up. I would consult the coin clubs in your area on a possible sponsorship. You can find them on the Indiana State Numismatic Association website at www.theisna.org. Should you do this, advertise as much as you possibly can, find an easy to find location with plenty of parking (locations near interstate highways (within 1/2 to 1 mile) work best. You may want to start your show with 15-20 tables, and if demand for tables increase, increase the number of tables by 5-10. Hopefully, my suggestion is useful to you.image
