Has Anyone Found One Of These 2004-S Cent?

I'm trying to figure out if there are more than one of these:

Looks like a struck through a thread coin. Very cool! I have a bunch of Kennedys from the 70s and 80s just like that.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

doesnt look like a piece of thread, but something.
is it concave (sunk into the coin) or convex (raised from the coin)
    concave its a struck-through something
convex its from die damage or die gouge
  • I have something similiar to that in my 2003 silver proof set, it is on the penny, right in front of his nose...

  • Never seen one like that yet....pretty neat.

    Must be rare.
  • It's a depression, a very shallow one at that. And it resembles a worm. I imagine that if I zoomed in closer, I'd see his eyes. image

One of the mint workers was not wearing a hair net.....
  • It's unfortunate that the coin is not urinating. Then you'd have something worth several hundred thou, easily.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

Mine doesn't have a depression in front of the face; it's got a wide, raised bar connecting the date to the bust. Weird. I posted a while ago to ask if anyone had seen one like it, but got no replies. I'd say quality control is going down the tubes over there. My Lewis & Clark dollar was so bad I sent it back... that was like 6 weeks ago or something and I haven't received a replacement. Oh well. Hopefully there are just enough like yours, and just enough like mine, out there that they become known varieties and we make money... Nice pics, anyway. Thanks for showing something unusual.

  • Well, maybe they got threads flying around all over the place at the U S Mint...I dunno. I mean they put coins in bags and bags are made outta threads and when the coins get to flowing the threads tend to fly God knows where. But the chances that one of those threads will fly from a bag and fall in front of President Lincoln himself has got to be phenominal!

Does anyone have some idea what this would be worth? I could be persuaded to sell it if under enough pressure. image Pressure me Greg.

Thanks Mirabela. Do you have a pic of yours that you could post here?
