PCGS holders

Can anyone tell me when PCGS changed there holders green label to blue,
And when did they change the bar code from back to front of the holders.
Just wondering how to refrence the holders as to when they were graded.

I don't know about the color change, but the bar code on the blue labels moved to the front in, I believe, February 2002.

I wonder why they don't tell you the date a coin was holdered
when you do a coin certification verification, I'm sure collectors would
    be interested to know.

  • I always thought that it was because PCGS wanted their product to be regarded as a sort of eternal entity, and not a necessarily reflection of grading standards at a certain point in time. However, I have been wrong before!

  • They went from the second green label to the first blue label with the barcode on the back and without the coin and series numbers in Nov 1998. The coin and series numbers were added to the front label in Jan of 1999. Russ was right about the barcode moving from the front to the back, Feb 2002.
