If you think you got a "rip" then yes you did right. Right on Bro!!!!
But IMO, no DMPL for YOU.
Do you see something in particular in the photos that's a red flag for you, K6AZ? Personally, I would have been a little nervous about the "all sales final"..... but let us know how it looks in hand!

I'd grab the images...which look pretty good. (right click over the images and be intuitive.)
The pictures were taken on an angle that made the coin appear great but it turned
out to be a one sided DCAM with the other side merely a PL. I am now suspicious of any
Morgan Dollar DCAM based on pictures. I hope that you have better luck.

Bear,
Two of the pics were taken head on, so the CAM did look legit on both sides to me. I completely ignored the two pics taken at an angle. No matter what happens, though, at least I'll know a little more about Morgans than I did before.

The thought is appreciated. Coming from a big Morgan man like yourself, it makes me feel a little better. Like I said, though, I was restless and couldn't sleep and just felt like busting some nuts with a snipe. Maybe I will have it graded, even if it's a common. If it comes back as either DMPL or PL, it will probably be a common as dirt 60-62. It may even BB for some unseen flaw. I'd wet myself if it came back 64 or better.

I agree.

Dude,
I'm guessing 64pl at best, so you probably overpaid by about $60 (raw-including the $8 s/h).
My question is.....Why an 80-S? There's probably a pop of a zillion in that grade, and another zillion higher, not withstanding the $20 it will cost to prove it.
My advice (take it w/ a grain...), spend your money on better date morgans.

It appears to have nice forsted device cameo contrast with the PL fields and may be a shot 65. You can purchase this date/mm in PCGS MS-64 PL for about $80-$100 on e-Bay or elsewhere, and you'd be down $30-$50 plus grading fees.
If you are fortunate enough to make an MS-65 PL, then you'd have a coin worth about $200 on the open market (minus your grading fees) and you'd be ahead $40-$50, after taking the grading risk.
Best rules of thumb are:
1) Don't buy raw coins sight-unseen on E-Bay -- even with photos
2) Don't buy coins for PL/DMPL prices unless they are PCGS (or NGC) certified
3) Stick with slabbed coins for less downside risk
Hope that this helps...

Even if it turns out to be what you thought, look at the risk you took. Extraordinary for one of the very most common dates. But, learn from it. If you have the urge to snipe, snipe something slabbed by pcgs, ngc or anacs, so at least you have a respectable third party grading opinion to back the hunch you may have based on eye appeal.
