Funny looking dates on small size coins

I never really intended to collect error coins such as overdates and such.

However, I have run across a few cool ones along the way, and I never seem to be able to just walk away.

Here is a cool little 3 cent silver where the 55 in the date (1855) appears to be struck at least twice, possibly 3 times

Here, is the Philadelphia version of the 1942/41 overdate coin.

Kinda fun stuff.

now I am giving my own pity post, a pity post
  • They are both cool errors. I have been finding quite a few in my endeavors of filling different collection books for my kids.

hey Lan, nice coins, I know the 42/1 is valuable, but is there any premium for the 55/55?

I can't even find a reference to it in the cherrypickers book, so I kind of doubt it. It is a substantial overdate from a standpoint of clarity of the doubling. I can't understand why it's not better documented with the possible exception that 3 cent silver coins are not overly popular.
