    Perfect, thanks Joe.

    LINKIE

Funny thing is I went to SuperCoins website to look for info & couldn't find any.
Since he had all the info on the type I/II/III on the 1972 Ikes, I thought I would go there first.
    Musta missed it!

Now, off to see if I have any of those!

Well now that I know what a peg leg is should I vote no since mine isn't?
  • It only makes sense to have the PEG LEG designated by PCGS and to be part of the "With Varieties" Ike set.

If you have no interest in Varieties then you do not have to collect this coin and you can stick to the basic set. If you collect varieties then this is a readily recognizable important Ike Variety.

My vote is YES it should be included.

  • Hey DRG,
I saw your post to DH on the Q&A forum and I PM'd him with a link to the thread you started a while ago. When you where asking var. set owners if the peg leg should be added; I thought it was an almost unanimous yes. Antways DH replied to my PM that Carol would be e-mailing registry set owners to get their responce.

Has anyone received this e-mail yetimage

I know I'm not in the top twenty, put I do have the highest ranked incomplete set (#33, still looking for a good deal on a 72 Type 2) so I hope I get my chance to say ADD THE PEG LEG image

    DRG's peg leg thread

By the way PM me if you have a 1972-P Ike Dollar, Type II in PCGS MS64 or better to offer me.

  • Yes, I received it last week!

    Here is a copy.

    Hi Everyone,

We’ve had several requests to add the 1971-S Peg Leg variety to the Ike variety set. Therefore, as a member who has a 100% complete variety set, we’d like your feedback.

    1. Should PCGS recognize the Peg Leg variety? YES or NO

    2. If YES, should the new variety be added to the variety set in the Registry?

We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

  • Why is PCGS limiting this to only the 32 people who have 100% complete sets, do the rest of us not count !! image

I guess I have to hurry up and get that 1972-P Type II so my opinion will matter !! image

Anybody got a PCGS MS64 or 65 they'd be willing to sell me, so I can move into the top twenty image

I voted YES on both questions as well! It should only be a matter of time before PCGS starts recognizing the 1971-S Peg Leg!

I also got the email from BJ.

I haven't responded yet, not that my vote matters if the rest of the registry votes yes.

I'm just wondering how many of the 'Ike experts' have multiple 'peg-legs' in wait until PCGS recognizes the variety then send them all in.
What would you guess the price of these will be?
And lastly, we are talking about the BU, Proof or BOTH?

    I voted YESimage

JC.....I bet they just goofed on sending you an email. I bet if
you email BJ, she'll count your vote.

  • I responded YES & YES!

I also pointed out that the email could have been more specific about MS vs PROOF. BJ responded that this email was only about the MS 1971 S Ike.

As to the question about some of us owning them, I am sure that most of the top 10 have at least one and maybe several. I own 2, one raw that looks MS61-62, and the other PCGS MS65. These coins are TOUGH to locate in any grade. I would be surprised to hear of anyone owning a huge group. Although I wish I had 100-200, maybe I could retire.

Once PCGS adds them to "with variety" Registry I expect the price to JUMP! Probably any grade will command $200+ and MS65's several thousand. No one knows for sure what the population of these coins is so it will take a while for the prices to stabilize. From what I have heard no one has ever seen a coin graded higher than MS65, so a MS66 would be a HUGE find.

I don't have any voting power as I don't have a complete set yet, but I do own a single 1971-s business strike peg leg in PCGS MS63. I also own a peg leg 1972-d in PCGS MS64 and would love to own a peg leg 1974-d, but I haven't found one yet. I absolutely support PCGS recognizing these varieties!
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!
  • Well, I voted against it myself.
If it went through, I'd have to start going to the coin shows, and get the dealers all mad at me while I try and find one of these suckers.
Once there was a dealer with a whole bunch of various Blue, Brown, raw etc. IKES, and he wouldn't let me look through them at all.
He wanted me to buy them sight unseen, and I wanted to make sure they weren't all green and corroded.
I guess they were all green and corroded.
    Sheesh...
It took me about a year or so to find the Type 2 rare variety.
Then the suspense of getting it slabbed too.
I am not sure I want to look for a Peg Leg now.
