I received my coin grades from PCGS today. All in all I was satisfied, but I thought the $2 1/2 Gold 1857-D and the 1/2 Dime 1868 would each grade one grade higher.
MS64PL $1 Calif. Gold 1872
AU53 $2 1/2 Lib. 1857-D thought it had a chance at AU58
MS64 $2 1/2 Sesq. Gold Commem. 1926
MS63 $20 Lib. 1898-S
MS66 $20 Saint Gaudens 1924
MS64 1/2 Dime 1868 toned
MS65 $1 Morgan 1885CC toned
MS66 50c Commem. Long Is. 1936 toned
Still waiting for the coins I sent to NGC.

Perfect opportunity for some 'learning'.
If someone was to as me about the toning on the '85-CC Morgan I would have said that it was suspect as the toning stays away from the stars & devices.
Can someone explain when this is a redflag for AT & when it is really NT.
Thanks again,
Louis

The reason why the Toning is missing from under the stars is due to the metal being streched while struck, thus changing the surface in that area making it harder for the Toning to stick. This is Not a determinating factor as to the NT/AT status.

I'm a little surprised at the Saint making 66 with that hit on the breast, but the fields are really sweet.
[edit: it isn't a hit on the coin, it just looked that way.]

Just because
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
