Woohoo! I have a Pop 1/1 from across the street...my success and failure...and an update on an Ebay

Well I said I'd share my success and failure once the time came, and give an update on a seller on Ebay that came into question here...the seller being jwcameo...so here we go...nine coins were sent off, three walkers and six morgans...

Walkers:
'39D bought as a BU coin for $35 and came back MS66 this was a good suprise!
'43P bought as a BU coin for $27 and came back MS65
'43P bought as a BU coin for $18 and came back MS64 this was an odd suprise, this coin looks better than the MS65! (Will most likely be sold or traded.)

Morgans:

'80S bought as a GEM BU DMPL from jwcameo, price not disclosed due to stupidity...came back MS63*PL Pop 1/1 a beautiful DMPL
'81S bought as a BU coin for $22 and came back MS64
'81O bought as a BU coin for $22 and came back AU58 this was odd, this coin has an all around golden tint, a few marks, it has to be the best looking AU58 around!
'86P bought as a BU coin for $22 and came back MS62 sure looks at least 64 to me...geez
'84CC bought as a BU coin for $158 and came back BB, cleaned...double dang!
'85O bought as a GEM BU+++++ DMPL from jwcameo, price not disclosed due to stupidity...came back BB, cleaned

As you can see, there was a whole wide range to my emotions...just curious to know what kind of value the 63*PL would pull with that POP?
The BB's I will sell off (yes, I will let people know they've been cleaned) and take the loss, as well as all the Morgans except for the '80S, I may keep the AU58 and try another service

As the update on the Ebay seller, well I can say for what I paid for the '85-O I'm pissed, I can't return now, it's too late, and to sell a coin that bad for that embarrassing price is a shame, but I'll take the loss and just let all here know the value of who to stay away from, because I value the info given.
Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

All-in-all, I think you did quite well! Those walkers are NICE! BTW, I'll give you double what you paid on any of them image

Unfortunately, not much. The 1880-S is very common in Prooflike and, even with the star, MS63 isn't a very high grade.

    Now those are ass kicking!

The '84-CC to me was borderline, but there was no way I thought the 85-O to be cleaned.

  • Pm me on the 85-o and the other bb.....my son is getting into them and would like to have a couple to "handle" without fear of ruining a good coin.
This is a very dumb ass thread. - Laura Sperber - Tuesday January 09, 2007 11:16 AM image

Sounds like you didn't have very good luck with that seller jwcameo. I would ask what his buyback price would be on those BB pieces, take a loss, move on, and don't buy from whoever that seller is again. If that seller knowingly sold you altered coins and didn't disclose it, that's pretty bad IMO. Like Russ said, a 63*PL will not carry much of a premium if any unless it's superbly toned

Don't feel too bad however, another board member sent me a group of semi key date Morgans he purchased raw for many thousands of dollars for my opinion on them, turns out they were all badly cleaned coins and worth a tiny fraction of what he paid.
