"Moderate" haze over mint brilliance.

Teletrade cracks me up!

I wonder how much haze is needed before they describe it as "heavy?"

Now, Russ ... heavy haze makes it impossible to tell the denomination ... aside from the size of the coin ... so don't be too tough on them.

There's four listed from the same submission with varying degrees of haze. No doubt victims of the wrong type of flip.

I would say it's hazier than LA at rush hour........ but I find that I still like it..... image
Would some type of dip be effective in removing that much haze??

Haze is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. IMHO the haze it quite a bit more than "moderate". However, who cares. If Ben can be acquired for a decent price (whatever that it is, ............. hmmm, I'd pay $100.00 easy, and would pay $250.00 easy if Ben was 54 years old instead of 48), put him in the crosshairs and pull the trigger. On receipt, crack the slab, take Ben out of his coffin and give him a bath.

If one properly bathes 48 year old Ben, then the haze may disappear leaving him in his "Sunday finest DCAM duds" taking a stroll through deep mirrored fields. What would be finer than that (other than a 1964 PF70DCAM AH hairy head)?

Who else would be willing to give Ben a home and a bath?

Just hit Russ's link to Teletrade. PCGS PF66CAM? Does not look CAM to me, looks like it could DCAM without the haze. I suppose the haze makes it more difficult to gauge the level of the frost and the depth of the mirrors. However, the devices, particularly the Liberty Bell looks DCAM to me. Perhaps there are a few frost breaks on the obverse devices. Perhaps under the haze the mirrors lack the requisite depth for DCAM designation (the only way to find out is to give Ben a bath). Another explanation is that perhaps I simply do not have a clue. Does anyone else think Ben would rate a DCAM?

PCGS holdered this one for me as a MS67 Cam. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. image

If it's been on there too long, no.
