    I did.
  • No. Were you involved in the chat?

<< <i>No. Were you involved in the chat? >>

They were apparently sent through eBay via the "Ask a member a question" link, presumably for those whose eBay IDs appear in the thread.

Yes, I was. The guy wants to do an article about it and asked for my concerns regarding Ebay. I'll answer him later tonight when I get home.

I'm going to respond, but I want to know his angle first before agreeing to go on the record. I do want to see "collectors demand that eBay crack down on fraud" as a headline. But I don't want the entire venue taken down as nothing but a snake pit, taking good sellers down with the bad. I want to know more about his agenda.

asked for my concerns regarding Ebay.

Feel free to pass mine along - ebay is a cesspool for fakes and ripoffs. In the trade dollar section, a good 2/3-3/4 of the coins at any given time are fakes. It's gotten so bad that I rarely look any more.
  • Include mine ~ I'm a Powerseller with several concerns to share if asked (EBay now sends me emails telling me they will read mine emails concerning fraud but will not respond as there is nothing further they can add).
  • What TDN said. For a few bucks I've been picking up a few of the "better" fakes to study for my own education, however, ebay is a quagmire with raw coins.

Over the last several days, we had several emails back and forth, including some where I referenced a few threads here. I also mentioned that Ebay is not the only venue where all the nonsense goes on. I mentioned his very own publication has several full-page advertisers who routinely overgrade and rip people off. Be interesting to see what turns up in the article, when it appears in Coin World
