Good advertising ploy. If you want to get into the registry with your ultrarare coin you've gotta put it in PCGS plastic.

Well that makes it really tough to complete another set,
There are only five known examples of each of several of those types.
Thus with five sets registered, they've pretty much cornered the market already.
That is a super exclusive club to be in there.

Just a ploy to get more ultra-rarities into pcgs holders. (oops someone already said that).

A reasonable 100 coin set with stuff like 09-s vdb's and 16-d dimes would be cool though. Even people with low grade sets would still have pretty neat sets! Although, like we need yet more demand on key dates.
