1966 Topps FB -- OK Guys - fess up

I looked at the pop report for this set yesterday as I do from time to time to check on the PSA 9 population. Today when I went back to print out the report there were an additional eleven PSA 9's that were entered today. That may not sound like much but that is more than 6.5% of the total ever graded.
I checked the biggest cards (Funny Ring checklist, Namath and Checklist #132) and there were no new ones on any of those.
The only one that I can think of with that kind of inventory to pull from is the legendary Stonegate. Could always be a DSL. Anybody want to confess (OK brag) about getting these ?? Anybody no what cert #'s' we are on today?

  • Nope, not me Fuzz. You and Art have exhausted my supply of 9s -- although the prices lately make it tempting to cull through the raw one last time.....

Here's a scenario of what may have happened :

shouldabeena10 submitted 11 cards and PSA graded all of them as 5's.
Simultaneously, SKINSFAN submitted 11 of the same cards and they were all graded as 4's.

Due to some wacky computer glitch, they grades were added together and put into the pop report as 9's ... image

That makes perfect sense to me other than I think Art would have pulled the PSA 5's
and Mike would have had the PSA 4's.
That is a much more likely senerio.

fuzz , I got them all and sold them to Mike. I thought you were still on "vacation"?
  • Duncan,
Still claim to be on vacation. I have now bought between 20 and 30 cards in the last 10 months. You know the rate that I have bought at in the past and it is still a vacation. When the post office guys start with "haven't seen you for a long time" and I lost my bucket there ( I used to have my own sorting bucket for my packages marked with my name and address as it was between ten and twenty and day). I am on vacation. No plans anytime soon on returning to the heyday. But I still keep up with things. Can't let them get too far out of hand.
This was actually a coincidence as I had gone on Monday to the pop report just to see if any 9's were being added. I check once a month or so. It was 154 up 1 from a month or so earlier and up only 5 in the last six months or so. On Tuesday, I went back to print the report to crunch some numbers to add some data to Mantlefan's post on 57 T BB grading standards. That is the only reason I noticed. It was at 165.
Yep still on vacation and having a pretty good time. Will even lose a set or two that I won last year but no big deal.
The bad news is........ if you sold them to Mike, you sold them to cheap as he has really deep pockets and very short arms.
