No ... looks like Type 2 (straight) steps to me...

Photos aren't clear enough to be sure, but my snap reaction was it's a reverse of '40.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I normally only bet quarters on bets. But this time I'd bet a bunch more that that coin is a reverse of '40 for two reasons. As Randy says it looks like a rev of '40 with sharply defined steps and I wouldn't bet against Randy. Second it is offered by ToneLover, who is a member here and a full time coin dealer with RCNH and I wouldn't bet that he missed a cherry pick like that.

It is hard to tell from the photos, but usually the reverse of 40 has a vertical line at the end of the steps that is pretty well defined. This one does not look stongly defined to me. I guess I'll find out when I get it in my hands.

I agree with all that has been posted thus far. But I think there may be a chance tha RCNH & PCGS made a mistake on this one ( a very small chance however). The pic is pretty bad, but does show waviness on the bottom step. In addition, my example of the 40 rev 38 shows a vertical line thru the steps that parallels the left side of the right column. The photo suggests that a vertical line may be there.

If I were a betting man, I might wager a couple of bucks. I wish the buyer luck.
