Verrrryyyy interesting ...

Does anyone know why it costs $5 to reholder a PR/MS 69 and below coin and $20 for a PR/MS 70 coin? Does that suggest PCGS has different standards for literally handing the two classes?

More risk in damaging a 70 coin.

They can always get another 69 out of the back room.

That 2004 pr70 cent is worth more than that 1882 ms68 morgan.
I am sure they have plenty of those in the back room.

Seems strange to me. One good nip with a nippers and the coin is out of the holder - very small chance at damage. They could even re-use the pliable insert to minimize the potential for damage or fingerprints. Have you thought of asking HRH in the Q&A forum why the extra charge?

From the inventory of IGC slabbed coins?

The problem is you can barely even look at an MS/PR70 without doing "visual damage" to the coin.

I believe PCGS uses mirrors to grade these coins. image
