I came across 2 uncirculated rolls of Jefferson's

One 1969 S and the other 1970 S. I am just wondering if they are worth buying. I will get them for face...I found them at work.
Thanks in advance.

  • If you can get them for face, why not? Do some cherry picking and then spend the rest!

  • I say go for it if it's for face... image Search for FS and choice coins... then fill the roll back up, and send it back to the bank... how can you go wrong? image

The odds of finding a good variety or a gem are very poor. I'd just dump them in the change
drawer and see if there's anything worth keeping.

Of course it's not impossible we've all been wrong all these years. These rolls were not all that
heavily saved at 1964 and large numbers have just been "dumpedin the change drawer" or spent.
It's not impossible that supply of typical and choice unc coins won't be sufficient for the demand in
a few years. By that time it will require a great deal of effort to find one of these in circulation and
they will almost invariably be in VG condition.

...But I would spend them after I checked them. If I were concerned about future demand then I'd
set aside choice and gem coins instead. They don't cost that much more (especially if you pick them
up at face value), and they are far scarcer and far more desirable.
