Elwood, you made me recall my worst sins during those periods when I was not actively collecting coins.

When I was in college 25 years ago (and all sorts of distractions seemed more interesting than coins), I met one of my idols, tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, in a men's room. In a rush to introduce myself before he left, I shook his hand, but he said nothing during my nervous, awed fan talk. He just looked at my hands and returned to the sink where he washed his hands again.

Five years later, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer, almost the same thing happened in a hotel rest room in Lome', Togo, but with saxophonist/Afro-Pop giant Manu Dibango. At least I met him on my way into the men's room when I saw Manu Dibango washing his hands.

Do you suppose Pharoah Sanders or Manu Dibango collect coins?

I remember a show in Houston in the early '90's. This little oriental man who was an m.d. comes out of the restroom with at least four feet of toilet paper stuck to his shoe.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.
  • Sure do. Don't want that nasty acidity getting all over the coins, now do we?? image

Yeah, but then you have to grab the dirty handle to get out. How come bathroom doors open in, instead of out?

A word of advice: Wash your hands after you handle coins, before you use the rest room, wash after using the restroom, and take a paper towel with you to open the restroom door !

you people are starting to scare me! I have always had this phobia about restrooms, washing my hands and restroom door handles. I NEVER thought it had anything to do with collecting coins. We are all WAY too much alike!

I do, but feel guilty throwing it on the floor when there's no garbage can close enough to the door image

Reminds me of the story about the freshman Tarheel and his first day at the Ivy League school:

On his way out of the men's room, the blue blood upperclassman stopped the freshman from North Carolina and said to him in a very high brow and stuffy manner "Where I come from, they teach us to wash our hands after we use the facilities". To which the Tarheel replied "Where I come from, they teach us not to p*ss on our hands".
