Does this 42 on this 42D Merc look funny?

Just looking thru a Dansco circ. Merc set I put aside, I decided to look at the 42 and 42D Merc's for DDO's and this 42D looks different. It doesn't look like the 42D DDO I am familiar with. Any help is greatly appreciated. Are there diagnostics for different DDO's from 42?

Fist off let me say WOW on your photography. Awsome close up! What are you using? I have strained my eys until they watered up.It is a puzzle.The first picture is curious and then the second one piqued my interest on the inside of the 2 and top of the 2 appeared to be doubled as well as the top of the 4, could it be notched?Maybe from a diff angle w/o the glare it is really hard to tell. When you get to the xtreme close up it begins to look like machine damage.
I wish I could see it from a diff lighting angle on those areas to get a better look. rich

are you talking about a 1942/41 D which that is not, all I see is MDD.

Here is a little different view Rich, and I took the micro close-ups with a Digital Blue scope. Jeff, I know its not a 42/42 42D dime, but it sure looks like something is going on at the base of the 2 and top of the 4.

Well John I would have to say Mechanical doubling with circulation damage,which makes it hard to tell.Even with your excellent views.Thanks for the other pics.They are really sharp!.
What is the make of the scope.I want to get one !!!.Poppa needs a new toy.

It's a QX3 Digital Blue Scope Rich. Do a search on ebay for it, they are really inexpensive. It's just a plastic scope, but it takes decent digital pics. Its great to have set up next to your pc if your a variety hunter.
