Yeah, sure it did...and some of the color too. I like doing two shots of lustrous coins - one for luster and one for color. Setup is different for the two.

nice shot, pretty coin. A second light about 90 degress off from the other will help light up the darker areas around the face.

Woo! I'm not the only one to likes the two-shot method! image

As was suggested, another light to help illuminate the lower left would help.

    Wow...

    That is a beautiful coin!!
  • Yes, it's nice. Capturing that shininess is very difficult sometimes. I don't have a decent camera yet, so I am still stuck using my scanner and I haven't mastered bringing out luster in scans yet, so all my shiniest coins look dull and gray.

You've got a coin and captured with your camera a wonderful mix of color and brilliant luster. Good job!

Yes, you got the lustre, but that's really all you got. Otherwise the picture is not easy to "read". The key is to balance lustre with detail so you can get a complete impression of what the coin is about. Not trying to be overly critical; it's a nice coin, but as far as photos go, it's just colors. Hope you don't take this the wrong way. I can tell you that I have not mastered the photo thing either, but I'm working on it everyday.
