  • Very interesting coin-- never seen the like of it before. Almost certainly a 1500's-1600's coin, so there's a shot that a 17th Century Krause might have a listing of it.

A diameter and weight of the coin would be helpful, but I think I've got this one pinned down anyway:

    German States
    Julich
    Struck under Wilhelm III 1393-1402
AR 1/2 Groschen Approx. 20 mm. diameter
Obv: Lion rampant left on shield in three lobed pattern. WILHEL'MVSimageVX IVLIAEN
Rev: Flowered cross; imperial eagle on shield at center. MONETA NOVA BVRENSIS

    Saurma 2970/1603

If the coin is more on par with a 25mm diameter, then it is a Groschen. All other descriptions stay the same, but it is then:

    Saurma 2968/1602

    I think it's cool looking!
  • 1393-1402?! Wow, my compass was off on THAT one! Pretty advance coin-making for that period!
