Hurricane Francis....is everyone ok???

Ok, it's not technically over for some of us yet, but at least the worst is behind us here in Orlando.

How is eveyone doing?????? Do any of our fellow collectors need any assistance???

My house got beat up pretty good, Roof damage, flooding, cracked windshield on my PT Cruiser..........but the power stayed on and the family is ok so I feel fortunate image

Now you know I am going to have to create a "Hurricane Ivan.....is everyone ok" thread for next weekend image

I can't believe our luck this year..........it's enought to drive a person crazy image

We're still getting some remnants here in SE coastal GA. Heavy winds and some branches down, but not so much rain. I did see some minor flooding yesterday. There are a lot of tree branches down everywhere but fortunately they mostly seem to be smaller ones in our yard. We live in a mobile home beneath two huge live oaks.

It's a she, BTW- Frances. Hope Ivan decides to go out to sea, but it doesn't look like Florida's lucky season. Will cross some fingers for y'all.

We've had some wind and a little rain but for now every thing is quite. I expect that to change somewhat but not be as bad as the folks in Central FL had it.

Is that the name of the next one?

That is my name, I am surprised there is a hurricane named that.

I work for a large coffee company doing IT Support.

I have been talking to stores that are in Florida.

They say people are lined up outside yesterday waiting for Coffee, I guess most people are alright.

Edited to Add: I hope everyone is Ok as well!

Just amazing how different things are between florida and california. It's been way too hot here. I would love some rain. Though we have been expecting an earthquake-for the last 20 yrs. Hope everyone is ok overthere. If you don't like the storms come over to So. Cal.. There's nothing here-not even regular little storms.

We're ok in Port Charlotte. Quite a bit of rain and some wind last night, but we have electric, internet and are ok. Now Fed ex "missed" delivering a number of packages worth a LOT last week but "supposedly" they're ok. We shall see about that very shortly.

Glad to hear y'all are ok up north and east. I wouldn't wish what happened to us in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda a few weeks ago on anyone.

  • Fine here in Lakeland... still got lots of wind and rain on the way, and there have been a couple tornados this morning in my county... and we still got this huge feeder band that is training across us... I'm going crazy, cause I want to get away from the house, but I can't because of all this severe weather near us...

Makes me glad I live in northern Minnesota. Pretty much away from hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados ,etc. All I have to really deal with is 4 feet of snow. But we have days noticed for a blizzard.

My cousin can back to visit this past week; but she was really running from the hurricane. Her husband had to stay down and work, as he is a police officer, and he was told he would be working 36 hours on with 8 off for the hurricane. They live about 45 minutes SE of Orlando. Hope that area faired well.

  • Yes, Right now Ivan's projected path is Florida, but there is still some time for it to turn (fingers crossed). It should make land fall this weekend in Florida, if nothing changes.

I am glad to hear everyone is doing well, and I am glad Punta Gorda did not take a beating like last time, but I am sure that even rain is a bad thing for them since they are still recovering from Charlie image

Naples checking in...heavy rains, half the city without power AGAIN, one day of moderate wind.
Everyone safe, some outback roads flooded.

    OK in Orlando.

My eldest daughter's house got beat up a little more. Charlie took some of the roof and Frances blew off the patches and created interior water damage but everyone is safe and unharmed. The property can be repaired. It will just take a little time (Maybe AFTER Ivan) image
