A shoebox, tin foil and an IHC

As my wife was looking at me like I was nuts, I constructed this 21st century light diffuser. The image on the left was taken in natural light with a setting of SHQ (high quality) with black cardboard taped around the slab, the image on the right was shot under flourescent lighting with the camera set at TIFF and later converted to jpg and no cardboard. Both were shot using the hi-tech diffuser. image Anyway I hate shooting NGC slabs and thought I would give this a try. You might want to fool around with it to. Let me know if it enhanced your photos.

Both are accurate, depends on how the coin is tilted and what light. You tilt this coin or look at it in natural sunlight the colors show, albeit the camera removes its luster. Copper does that unfortunately especially shot through slab plastic.

  • i cant see the pix, i'll look from home.

I tried that method with a bigger box. I poked a hole in the bottom then lined it with foil. I put the coin on a light board I use for drawing, then put the box over the coin. Put the camera on the box and tried to take the pic.

    It didnt work. image

I bet the shoebox method works better, very good idea. image
