    There was a couple 8s that went for over a grand this summer, and the last one went for just under, IIRC. But with the big players in '61, I'd have to say it'll break $3500. Man, that 1961 set is nice. Its plainness is such a contrast to all the other sets I collect that it is very appealing to me, especially with all the subsets to give it some flavor. I might have to get into that set one day.

    I agree, I collect the stars from the set but I think the registry competition has driven the price of some of the "hard to get" cards out of sight IMO.
    You could get a really nice Mantle for that kind of money. Heck, I got this Musial for under smr and the centering is really nice - I could not afford to compete for those rarities at that price.
