Who has seen that 1999 Type 2 Cent on eBay?

Does it look cleaned to you all? I see lots of hairlines. The bidding last time I looked was at $699.99. What do you all think? I am not looking to buy it since I already have one, but it seemed a little high given the hairlines. I may be seeing things though.

Could be the hairlines are a product of the picture. image

Looks cleaned to me. Hard to imagine someone paying $700+ for a cleaned modern cent with a bit of space between two letters! image
  • Maybe it's cleaned maybe not.
As I see it it looks like die polishing ridges to me.
They look raised to me, so what lookslike scratches is actually artifacts off the dies in my opinion.
But I think the price is rediculous, but what do i know.

  • There are lines on the obverse. Whether they are of the "hair" or "die polish" type, I cannot tell.

Even it it wasn't possibly cleaned, I don't think I'd be spending that much on a raw coin on ebay.

If that is die polish lines, they sure are abundant! Looking at the picture without the glass held up to it, just does not look like a freshly minted "red" cent to me. I may be wrong though.

As for the price, for a raw one of those, no way would I spend $700.00. There is still 6 days left so it might go higher. I would not even spend $700.00 for a certified one. For this particular variety, I might be willing to do $250.00 certified. $300.00 if it was MS67.
