Don't see anything here either. Maybe some of the Jeff Nickel collectors can chime in here.

  • Well, I'm no expert on Jeffs, but one thing's for sure, any seller who is that rude to a potential buyer just for asking a question is someone I prefer to avoid.

I sent the following to the seller, wonder if he will respond.

    Dear my_daddies_demonite,

You really need to know what you are talking about. There is no such thing as a 1939/4 Jefferson Nickel. You are indeed an idiot and a moron.

  • NICE K6AZ, let me know what she says LOLimage

You people must be newbies. The 1939/4 overdate is the result of re-using the 1934 dies in 1939.

This has got to be an eBayer that got naru'ed under another ID.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    You may be spot on!
  • THIS IS NOT A JOKE

You may just catch the shaft on this auction.

Nothing says I'm an expert like Bright distracting flourescent boxes over the area inteded for analysis.

One of their past auctions seems on the up and up as far as I could tell and the buyer seemed happy.

  • My question to the seller:

"Do the coins actually have the blue and yellow boxes on them, as shown in the pictures? If so, is that natural toning?"

I see the 4, but I see other overdate numbers too! He missed seeing the 9 over 8 and the 3 over 0. That obviously is the rare 1939 over 1804 Jefferson nickel! (even rarer than the 1804 dollar!) In 1804 a copper-nickel five cent piece was planned with then-President Jefferson's portrait. However a shortage of nickel and public resistance to "fiat money" caused this coin to be postponed and dies were put away for 135 years. In 1939, a new date was stamped over the old and the dies were finally used.

If the new "nickel" had been made in 1804, it would have bore the image of each succeeding President. Image what the Fillmore or Nixon nickels would have been like, or imagine the rare 1913 Taft (instead of Liberty) nickel being worth millions!imageimageimage

  • Right, this guy's on the ball... He probably found these the same place he got all his 1964 Peace Dollars from, along side of his many rolls of Aluminum 1974 Indian Head/Wheat Cent coins! -- The seller of this item is obviously trying to pull a scam. He's a goof! Caveat Emptor!

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Well, I never got a reply from the seller, but I got this from eBay a while ago:

Maybe someday he will get the idea that no Jefferson nickels were minted in 1934.
  • I doubt it, as long as there are pople to rip off, he or she won't
buy the way I found a 2009/2009 in my change today.

    SCORE!image

  • You guys crack me up! image

I'm the kind of sucker who might think this guy really doesn't have a clue and honestly thought he had a rare 1939/4 overdate. image
  • he or she may have, but their rude reponse set this off, no need to act tike that, and what a joke? some one needs to regulate.
