Coin World is reporting about a 1856 I cherrypicked out of the Pittsburgh Heritage auction. Its the rare Snow-1 which is by my research, the first 1856 struck. It has the S-3 obverse in an earlier die state and a unique "tilted ONE CENT" reverse with the ONE CENT rotated with repect to the wreath. Another neat aspect of this die pair is the obverse die is rotated to show the eagle flying onward and upward like the Gobrecht dollars.
Presently only 5 are known. Breen did not list this in his encylopedia because only 1 copper example was known in 1987. Mark Borchardt (one of the present catalogers at Heritage) discovered the first CN pice in 1990 (an XF, which I sold a a few years ago for $17,500).
I figure it should be worth $20,000, but Coin World reported what I paid for it (This is a cherrypick), so I have to price it a bit cheaper that I should. Anyway that's what happens when you buy coins at public auction - your cost is public. However

I don't think what you paid for it has any relevance to what you should sell it for. If you think it's worth $20K and the market thinks it's worth $20K, then damned well sell it for $20K. Screw anybody who thinks you're making "too much" profit.

I also agree with Russ.....I'd sell it for fair market value regardless of what you paid......other sure would
I also love to go through rolls to find coins.

Why don't you buy it and sell it for twenty grand ? Haven't you seen enough accented curls?

I've always believed that it's right and proper to benefit from the knowledge you get from years of research.
