Hello,
My sis found this dime in her change and wanted me to look at it to see what happened to it. Is this baby a mint error or what? It Looks broadstruck on the reverse but what the hell happened to the obverse? The Overall size of the dime is a bit larger too.
Thanks,

If it is the correct weight, then I agree with cladking - the obverse die broke, and a planchet stuck to it, probably beacuse the coin metal flowed up into the cracked die. It stayed in place for several strikes, wearing thinner with each, until the elements of the obverse die began to bleed through. Your coin would have been struck by a late stage of the capped die.

Ok, I weighed the coin against 3 other dimes and the weight is the same. I dunno how many decimal points you need to go out but I got 2.3 grams on the other regular dimes and 2.3 grams on this dime. Heh, pretty cool dime.
