Was "coin weenie" now "advanced collector"

I have a slightly different philosophy on coin collecting/dealing. I consider this hobby/trade to be the fulfillment of a childhood fantasy. As a child, growing up beside my grandfather, who dabbled in coins, I developed an innate love for coins. This love persisted, but it was not until post-college that I could actually AFFORD to collect the coins I loved so. Becoming a coin dealer is just the next step. It is the extension of not being able to truly afford the coins you love, so you have to buy them for resale, so you can admire them for a while, and furthermore, eventually make enough money to buy a few.
Does anyone else find this to be a true progression?

I try to collect nice coins with this in mind. That I plan to hold on to them for a long, long time. Only buy what I can afford, within a budget, so to speak. So I guess my answer is no. I can understand your philosophy though, especially if your goals are to someday becoming a coin dealer. image
