Edited to add: I recognized one of the coins right away. The 1878 trade dollar was from the David Silberman collection, sold raw by B&M a couple of decades ago. That set was the most amazing set ever completed - all were original tissue toned beauties. I used to own the 1874 [PF66 Cam] and Nic used to own the 1875 [PF67]. The 1878 blew them both away.... it was absolutely stunning!
They were my coins, but I have a miserable memory and still lost the contest.
Just kiddin'.
Seriously, I was told that they belonged to a private collector. Makes sense to have done that. They couldn't have used coins known to the participants. Wouldn't have been a fair contest.
