New Purchase: 1880-CC (8/High 7 VAM-5 Overdate) -- PCGS MS-63 PL Morgan Dollar (Photos)

Here's a new purchase that I am pleased to post of a very low population 1880-CC (8/High 7 VAM-5 Overdate) Morgan Dollar Variety in PCGS MS-63 PL. PCGS has graded 12 equals and 46 higher -- making it a Top 58 for the 8 over High 7 variety image

I already happen to have the same coin in higher grade PCGS MS-64 DMPL, but felt that this was a very compelling purchase at about $100 over the Greysheet price for the typical 1880-CC (non-overdate variety) in regular (non-PL) MS-63 condition.

I will try to take some better photos of it after I receive it. I'd be interested in your thoughts. I really like the 1880-CC Overdates in PL condition - they are among my favorite VAMS... I think that it's a VAM-5

  • Looks like a very fine piece for a tough date, especially in PL. That looks like a reverse of 79 - is that correct?

Very nice Stuart. That is a hole I have yet to fill in my set.

Frank: Yes, it's the Reverse of '79. The Reverse of '78 is even tougher to get in PL designation -- I'm still working on that...

If anyone out there has an extra 1880-CC (Reverse of '78) in 63 PL or better, let's meet on the BS&T Board image
