Looks like a very nice set! Trying to get a picture of a whole mint set set is difficult because the coins are all angled slightly and they will reflect the light differently and look different. I would have have no problem paying $300-$400 for a 57 set with super color and a set with awesome color I could pay 2X-3X maybe even more. I heard of one 58 set going for several thousand dollars. I think they are about the neatest thing to ever come out of the mint. mike
darktone is correct the lighting angle makes some of the coins look brighter than others. The roosies in this set are truly remarkable in color as are the cents and one of the Franklins. I obtained this set from an old time dealer in Southern Michigan who shows up here once a month for a coin show. I believe this particular set was purchased in 2000. I've not seen hundreds of these sets, maybe a couple dozen over the years but the neat thing about them is the coins in the same set can be toned, hardly toned or toned not at all.
I guess I'm starting to. This is my first mint set from the 50's(it's a 55) that I bin'd on Ebay last weekend. It should be here pretty soon. I'm waiting to see what the colors look like in person. Tom
The mint sets pictured are beautiful. I really like the 1958. I recently purchased a 1956 set and am very happy with it. The more I look at these sets in coins shops and at coin shows, the more I like them. I predict that my collecting interests may broaden to include these sets from 1947-1958. More money dumped into coins. Oh well, I make the money, which pays family bills, so I guess I should treat myself. How's that for rationalizing my hobby expenditures? Better than spending the money on booze or other things that will give you a headache the following morning.
