Unlikely. The technique on the photos is considerably different making it hard for me to be 100% certain.

It's the same coin. I just sent the seller one of my love letters.

It's the same die, and most probably the same coin. The telling
point is the flaw between the last star and LIBERTY.

    yep.
Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

without a doubt it is the same coin.

Sure looks the same. Same coin or not, the "greater fool theory" will be proven if someone pays over $8,500 for raw early gold on eBay. One thing I'd love to see in a "coin buying on eBay for newbies FAQ is: If a very valuable coin is being sold raw, there's probably a reason for it.

Does this guy have a history of buying coins, cracking them out, and trying to make a profit by glossing over some details listed on the slab?

They don't look the same to me, I see more wear on the first one:

It's the same obverse die plus there's a small nick just below Liberty's chin (go to the Heritage link to see it).

I believe it's the same coin.

Looks like this dealer took special care to hide identifying marks. His photo looks well edited and low res. Here's proof its the same coin. Just another greedy scumbag who thinks stealing money from coin collectors is okay.

It certainly appears to be the same coin. Several of the nicks match up in size and place. Others are well hideen by the seller. I especially noted the 2 dings under the chin on each coin as did Shamika.

No doubt in my mind its the same. At least half a dozen marks/hits on the obverse alone that convince me.

you better believe it. he used to (maybe still does - i don't get on ebay much any more) screw around mostly w/ copper, but this nutcase will screw around w/ anything. i know the dude personally & can't stomach him.

  • I think it is. Look at the rim above the first two stars behind libertys cap at around 10-11 o'clock. It is harder to see in the holder, but it seems to have the same irregularity in that location
