Snagged this baby with a BIN of $159. Gonna buy a new car with it someday.
And no, it's not as toned as it looks in the pic. Scanner is set too dark, I think.

What a waste of money........I think I sold it for $4.00 on Ebay
another. I'll sell you this one for $150 delievered.
<< <i>I only collected the silver ones from circulation and I really don't know anything about the more modern Roosevelts so can you please tell me what makes this coin valuable? >>
The full torch designation is where the value is at. The mintmark does not greatly affect it, but it does help it's value slightly. You can buy a regular 1996-W dime for around $20, last time I checked.
Oh, you were not kidding. Well, I cannot blame you for being optimistic. Just don't start shopping for Maseratis until you have a firm offer on the coin.

The 'I shouldn't have to say anymore' comment was directed at the alleged MS69 pieces in the NTC and ICG holders. I wouldn't trust those grades if my life depended on it. You'd probably be lucky to get a 66 for them if you broke them out. As for the car, I wasn't thinking in $100,000+ range. I can see this thing one day getting into the tens of thousands, if not too many more show up in the grade before then. Who knows, NGC and PCGS could show hundreds more in the next pop update, and then I'll feel bad, but then again, maybe no more will ever be found in this condition. When the 66 and 67 pops rise, but the 68 pops remain the same, that's when you'll see the prices on these go up. I'll find some rich registry nut who'll want it, I'm sure. That's what speculating is all about. Why do you think Wondercoin listed his 96-W in 68FB for $800?? He's hoping to hook a millionaire, just like I am.
is also some additional appeal because of the W mint mark. This makes the coin more popular
with collectors and even though the pops will rise considerably it will always command a premium
over other dates with similar pops. Like the 09 SVDB Lincoln. The pop for the 96W PCGS 68FB
is now at 34. There have been a few recent sales on eBay in the $800 area for a PCGS MS68FB.
As far as it becoming a five figure coin in the future I have my doubts. I believe the coin is topped
out at its present value and there will be enough supply to handle the demand for the coin.
I feel the 2 coins I posted below have far more potential then the 96W. Check out the pops on
these 2.

One closed about a month ago at $997.
<< <i>The Full Torch standard over at NGC is much more stringent than the Full Band standard at PCGS. >>
Since NGC is more stringent than PCGS, buy those $150 NGC graded MS68FT's, cross them to PCGS MS68FB holders and make some nice fat profits.

Hot Wheels have always been better made cars.

<< <i>where do the w mints come from? Proofs? were there two proofs issued? or all Mint Proofs have the W in it? >>
They're not proof, they're business strikes. Proof dimes are S mint. The Westpoint mint dimes were sold only in mint sets, so the quantity minted is much lower than the others.

There seems little doubt that in the long run the modern rarities will sell at price comparable
to the classic rarities. This might take many decades or longer and it might only be because
the classic rarities drop down but it will happen. In fact a modern era Hot Wheels might sell for
more than a brand new car by the time it happens.
It's not impossible that this day is coming much sooner than many believe possible nor is it impos-
sible that the modern coins might actually have a premium to the classics. An interesting case
could be made for it.
