eBay linkage
I really, really like half cents and large cents...I think they are the coolest coins...but I just don't have that much experience with them.
I bought the above one over the counter and put her up on ebay to see what kind of price she would bring...mainly to learn what the market was at...well when she closed, she closed well above greysheet and I was happy...
Well, come to find out that a guy that collects half cents and large cents that I have been talking with a bunch at the store brought in some others for me to buy ( I did not buy this topical piece FYI) and he brought in this Large cent price guide, which he says is the "bible" for large and half cent people and it shows that it should have been around $450.
So, what do you all think? I was very happy before I talked to this fellow, and still am as I made a decent amount, but as everything with me, I want to learn and be able to be confidant in my future dealings, so I need info as to what happened.

by the way, I just picked up a very neat 1794 in good+, a 1795 in very good and a 1796 draped bust in fine detail...net to vg...which I am still smiling from ear to ear as I just love holding coins that start with 17xx

<< <i>i think it's a piece of crap. the usual sloppy, irresponsible, festering bile-ridden flea-mongering crappy level of plastic grading of early copper that you see in near every freakin slab. K S >>
Do you not like the coin, or the same coin in the holder?

it's not an anti-plastic stance, it's an anti-crappy-grading stance.
ngc is the official png grading service??? no wonder the png is laughed & sneered at by so many collectors, when they subsidize grading as bad as this.
