Home U.S. Coin Forum

Could this forum here be promoted to educate newbies often suckered on ebay?

Many members here sell on ebay. What would happen if alot of us started placing a short exert at the end of our auction descriptions stating how important coin education is to prevent wasting money and maybe even linking or just placing the site address here encourage newbies to become members and/or just lurk and learn. image
Would ebay or CU object to this as our motive is to just salvage the hobby from the so many scammers now that are coming out of the woodwork?

I know a lot of people have done this. In fact, quite a few members came here because people pointed out these boards to them. I think inviting people through the auctions is a good idea. You'll get the occassional troll and troublemaker but probably a lot of newbies who can add energy and long time collectors who can add stories.

It sounds like a positive thing but it might be wise to get a commitment from CU
to upgrade the server first. This site was bogging down a lot for weeks apparently
caused by too much use. It's been better recently.

It looks like the old boards have been lost and it would be a shame to lose a lot
more and have a sluggish site that many of the newbies wouldn't want anyway.
