Health of the current market?

Does anyone else see a slowdown in the current coin market, specifically in auction prices realized? Seems to me copper is still hot but several 19th & 20th century series aren't pulling down the prices they were 4-6 months ago.

  • I think there will be a definite slowdown within the next 9-12 months.

Well, Alan Greenspan says, "The overriding concern facing many owners of numismatic properties is at the present time in an area of flux. Irrational exuberance is combatting lethargic, and latent, pessimism in many sectors. This is an entirely understandable situation if not entirely a warranted position at this point in time. It is in my opinion that this will or should evidence itself in due time through a series of market adjustments either positive or negative."

Nothing to fear. Collectors like myself are waiting patiently to swoop up coins that are priced at or near 1998 and 1999 levels.

It has been a difficult two years for buyers to add to their collections. We are hopeful that good buys will continue to be had.

Bottom line, strong underlying support for 19th and early 20th century coins.

You guys are just trying to talk down the coin market.
