Help needed: How to treat corrosion on an IH cent?

Found a 1908-s indian head in a garage sale today, but it has some corrosion and green oxidation on it.Do I soak it in olive oil and if so for how long?

  • Do others agree? Any particular grade acetone necessary?

I never heard of the acetone first before---but make sure it's a pure as you can buy. The olive oil will take months, like 6 months, but works ok. I believe you should use a thorn to do any deep cleaning. Do a search over on the World and Ancient Coins forum for "olive oil" and you'll find a bunch of interestin information.
