I just checked the Olympic website and found out that
not only did the USA not win the Baseball gold...
but did not even enter a team?
Since when has that happened?
We used to have teams in the 80s and 90s
What happened????

they are...
they are recruiting from all those countries
that ARE winning medals in the Olympics!

I guess it would be impossible to field a USA baseball "Dream Team"
since the olympics AND mlb are both playing in the middle
of the summer....
(I smell a conspiracy... )
funny 2 : the Greeks had a team of Greek/Americans - because they have no idea what baseball is, let alone how to play ! didn't see how they did...anyone?
The National League wild card race and post-season might be decided by the USA not qualifying for Greece. Had the USA qualified in all likelihood Roger Clemens would have pitched for them in Greece. The USA probably would have shutout Cuba in the Gold Medal Game. The Astros would have traded a great number of players and somebody else would have Carlos Beltran. Either way Jimy Williams would have been fired. Now, Roger could possibly be pitching in the post-season with the Astros.
