My coolest Bid Board find! Post yours!!!

I'm not a big toned Morgan fan, but I found this one at Mike's shop About Rare Coins in Chino, CA and thought it was usual enough to bid on -- $45.00 not too shabby. He's got a great board with some great coins on it!

Anyone want to estimate the grade???

  • Hard to go wrong at that price for the coin, IMO... I go 63 on this pretty... make sure to request it reverse forward if you slab it image

Looks 62/63 to me. Nice coin. By the way, I work at the Chino airport and I hope to visit "About Rare Coins" next Saturday. image
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!

    Lock 62, possible 63.
  • I would say 63 as well. The cheek is too scratched up for more.

Years ago I used to frequent a local bid board, it is still running but I almost never have the time to go check it out. Among the stuff I picked from that board were numerous Lincoln and Jefferson RPMs and a low-grade 1946 Walker DDR.

Hands down the best one, though, was a 1941 Die #1 DDO in a group of mixed UNC Wheat Cents which I purchased for under a buck. ANACS wound up calling it MS64RB, and I'm sure it would have been red had I not spent hours with it in the palm of my hand, staring at the doubling through a loupe. I don't have any pictures of the coin, however if you have a copy of Kevin Flynn's 'Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents,' you can see a bunch of pictures of it in there. image

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

    I haven't seen a bid board in 28 years.

My best find on a bid board was the Krause plate coin of a Nurnburg (Germany) pfennig. A detail of the coin is in my sig line.image
