Question on 1963 Sugardale Baseball Card

I was looking at this card (1963) Max Alvis Sugardale. I thought all of the cards had rounded corners. Is 1963 different (i.e., have square corners)?

I just checked the 2004 Sports Collectors Digest, and the picture of the card in there
shows the cards to have rounded corners just like the 1962 did. So I would say this
card has been trimed a lot.

I doubt this card has been trimmed. My belief is that it is sheet cut. If you compare the two auctions, by trimming the second card, you could never get the first card. In order to get rid of the rounded edges you would have much smaller borders. Also there are no stains from the Hot Dogs. While stains are not always present, they are very common.

A similar example to this would be the 1953 Stahl Meyer set in Barry Halper's collection. The Stahl Meyer cards also have rounded edges, but his didn't. According to the auction description it was because the cards were hand cut from a sheet and never were packaged with the hot dogs.

One last note. This card is from the Mastro Auction and there is no mention of the discrepency in the description. Disappointing especially since there is no scan of the card.

By the way, what are you doing looking at Hot Dog cards? They are undesirable health hazards. Only fools collect them!

(edited to say hopefully this will bring murcerfan out)
