How Rare Are Red Toned Morgans?

If you mean monochrome red, I've never seen one. And, I've handled quite a few toned Morgans.

That's why I asked if they were monochrome. Tons of Morgans have red as one multiple colors.

all red has gotta be rare. coins with some red (among other colors like blue), not so rare.

Hi Gat. Actual Red color toning is rare. However, Magenta toning is NOT the same as red toning, is not as rare, and could be mistaken as red when it's not. matteproof

When I read the title of this thread, I immediately thought of all the artficially toned morgans on eBay that carry an amazingly cheap premium despite their toning. Most all of the AT'd ones were pretty obvious, displaying a colour that was all red, and looked obviously AT'd. However, most ordinary people probably wouldn't notice, so becareful when buying these off eBay, unless they are certified.

True Statement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my 31 years of collecting Toned Morgan Dollars I have never seen a full obverse or reverse toned cherry red dollar.

red toning on a morgan is not rare at all. storage in a kraft envelopes can rapidly cause pinkish to blood-red toning.
