In search of website..........

I am trying to find a good website on Franklin and Kennedy Half dollars showing different die varieties and double die strikes including photos. I am also considering the purchase of a book by Flynn and Wexler titled Treasure Hunting Franklin and Kennedy Half Dollar Double Dies. Curious if anyone has the book and would recommend it.

Thanks for any help,
Randy

I don't know about the Frankies, but the definitive work on the Kennedy series is The Kennedy Half Dollar Book by James Wiles.

As for web sites, there is CONECA.

Thanks Russ. I have a number of unc 64 and 64D Kennedy rolls I've been wanting to search thru.I didn't realize that there were double die varieites on the 64D series and figured I'd look up some diagnostics before getting started.

    by James Wiles, Ph.D.

The Kennedy Half Dollar Book is the most current published listing of Kennedy Half Dollar varieties available today. It contains precision photos and die stage markers that will aid you in attributing your coins. Don't be confused by design changes on the Kennedy half. This book addresses design changes for you.

Each variety is listed with its own Universal Variety Code, CONECA's Die Marriage Registry (DMR) number, RPM number, and other cross-reference numbers for ease in accurate attribution. Approximately 1200 high-color photographs are presented directly with the variety analysis, so that you can easily attribute your own Kennedy half dollars.

This volume contains the standard CONECA attribution guide features: mintmark styles, abbreviations, year and mintmark analysis, the lengthy variety analysis, and the brilliant "Master Checklist" - a practical hands-on tool for the collector. At the very end of the book, you'll find guidelines on how to submit coins to the CONECA Die Variety Attribution service as well as a convenient CONECA membership application.

This book contains over 300 pages, is spiral bound in 8-1/2 x 11 inch portrait format. Copyright 1998, by CONECA.

    Retail (nonmember) price $40.00 plus $3.50 postage/handling

Special CONECA member sale price $36.00 postage paid
